Step 2: The range extender should be plugged to the power outlet. Ensure that the LED lights are stable.
Step 3: Now, a web browser should be launched. Enter the router’ IP address or 192.168.1.1 in the address bar.
Important note: In case if the computer has a defined default startup web page on the browser, the dialog box required for a username and password will automatically display.
Step 4: Soon, you will be prompted with a window that will require a username and password. The username should be left blank and enter ‘admin’ in the password field. Finally, click to login.
Step 5: Then, you should click on Wireless > Basic Wireless Settings
Step 6: The radio button should be set to manual and then the router’s Network Name (SSID) should be entered.
Step 7: Select the security settings that comply with the router’s configuration on the wireless security section. Now the passphrase or the WEP Key should be entered and then click on save settings.
Troubleshoot tip: For maximum Wireless-N performance, we advise you to use WPA/WPA2 wireless security on the router and range extender.
Step 8: For 30 seconds, the power cables of the router and the linksys extender setup should be unplugged. The router should be plugged in first and you should wait for all the lights to be stable. Then plug in the extender. Hopefully, the range extender should be synchronized with the router.
Troubleshoot tip: For ensuring that the extender is successfully installed, you should access the router’s DHCP table and check if the range extender is listed with its IP address. Message the extender via wireless computer and check if you receive a reply.
